Hazel B. Smith, 83, of Blue Springs, MO passed away October 29, 2016. A visitation will be held Monday, October 31 from 6-8 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Independence, MO. A service will be held Tuesday, November 1st at 2:00 p.m. at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will follow at Belton Cemetery. She was born, November 25, 1932 in Pelsor, AR to Roy Adams and Frona Freeman Adams. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Dorvin Smith; and 3 siblings, Gladys Sexton, Arvil Adams and Lorene Sain. She is survived by her sons, Michael D. Smith and fiancée Patsy of Fayetteville, AR, and Terry L. Smith and wife Michelle of Lone Jack; 5 siblings, Kathy Rawlingson, Burl Adams, Junior Adams, Dale Adams and Larry Adams; 3 grandchildren, Julie Barrand and husband Jeremy of Bates City, Amanda Tomlinson and husband Jared of Prairie Village, KS and Lindsay Cleary and husband Shane of Belton; as well as 3 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Lane and Gus. Despite a life-time of health challenges, Hazel never gave up. Quitting wasn’t an option. Her family always enjoyed her chocolate cream pies, cherry chip cake, and potato pancakes. She was a gifted alto singer. Most of all, her family will remember her for her constant love and devotion.
