Larry Dean Smith

Larry Smith, 68, of Kansas City, Missouri passed away May 18, 2020. Visitation will be 10-11:00 a.m. Friday, May 29, 2020 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence. Larry was born on May 29, 1951 in Jackson County, Missouri one of two sons born to Ernest and Wanda (Simmons) Smith. He attended Paseo and Southwest High School. He was a proud Veteran of the Army serving in the Vietnam War. He retired from Providence Hospital as a Unit Secretary. Larry enjoyed playing Bingo, Word Find Puzzles, and watching all sports! His TV was always on with some sporting event going on. His favorite games involved his beloved Chiefs and Royals. When he first became ill he stated that he wanted to live long enough to see the Chiefs win the Super Bowl, and he did! Survivors include: cousin Debbie Rogers; former wife Linda Smith; sister in law Nelia Smith and siblings Susan, Gina, and Eric; extended family and friends. Larry is preceded in death by his parents and brother Gary Smith.
