Lena L. Smith, 81, of Independence, passed away Thursday, August 17 at Carmel Hills Living Center with family and friends by her side. Mrs. Smith was born on May 16, 1925 to Elmer and Genevieve Lane in Brownstown, Indiana. She was married to Harold Smith, Sr. for 32 years. Mrs. Smith was a realtor for over 10 years and while living in Aurora, Colorado was a floral designer and caterer. She loved to travel, was an eternal optimist and will be dearly missed by those who loved her. She is survived by her two sisters, Jean Ratchford and Glenda Willard of Overland Park, Kansas, her five children; Joy Musquiz and her husband J.R., Robert Kane and his wife Cheryl, Hal Smith, Jr. and his wife Tami, Linda Dextras and her husband Paul, Brad Smith and his wife Denise. She enjoyed her grandchildren; Steve, Jenny, Chad, Tammy and Tessa Louise and also her great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was one of Jehovah�s Witnesses for over 50 years and served in the North Independence congregation. Services will be held 10:00 a.m, Saturday, August 19 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St. Indep. MO with interment in Floral Hills Cemetery.
