Rolf D. Smith

Rolf D. Smith, 77, of Independence, MO, passed away Friday, August 26th at his home. Services will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 30th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rolf was born September 15, 1927 in Kansas City, MO to Vincent Paul and Thelma Fern (Pittman) Smith. Mr. Smith was a member of the Community of Christ Church and attended the Grain Valley Congregation. He was a veteran of the Navy serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Rolf had his pilot�s license from training he had received from his father. He loved his family and was active in supporting them in every way. Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 51 years, Yvonne (James) Smith of the home; daughters and sons-in-law Patsy and Lloyd Hawkins, Barbara and Jim Jones, Michelle and Danny Sawyer, Teresa and Bruce Kidd; 11 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
