Ruby Jean Smith (Carroll)

Ruby Smith, 91, of Independence, MO passed away February 5, 2016. Visitation will be from 1-2pm Wednesday, February 10, 2016, at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 2pm at the chapel. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Ruby was born on December 12, 1924 in Noel, MO to James and Daisy (Workman) Carroll. After 15 years of service, Ruby retired from the Newberry Company. She has been a member of the Eagle’s since 1993. Ruby along with her husband, Glenn, moved to the Lake of the Ozarks after retiring. There they spent 10 years enjoying watersports, gardening, and their chickens. They returned to the Independence area in 1985, and since Ruby has devoted her life to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Survivors include; sons David Smith (Pam) and James Smith (Denise); daughters Janet White (Teddy) and Joan Rowland (Dennis); brothers Harold, Bobby, and Henry, Jr. Dugger; sister Francis Dugger; 9 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. Ruby is preceded in death by; husband Glenn in 1988; son Charles Smith; daughter Dianna Boyce; parents James and Daisy Carroll; brothers John, Richard, and Bill Dugger; and a sister Evelyn Brown. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Gentiva Hospice.
