Terry Lee Smith, of Lee's Summit, MO, a dedicated Baptist who was devoted to his church and loved his family above everything else, passed away on January 18, 2022. He was 78 years old. Terry was born on March 28, 1943 in Independence, Missouri to Glaud Leslie Smith, Jr., and Wilma Rosalie Smith (Hutchcroft). He graduated from Northeast High School in Kansas City, MO, in the class of 1961. On November 3, 1961, he married Bonnie Palmer in Independence, MO and to this union two sons were born: Mike and Tim. Terry attended Finley Engineering College, as well as UMKC. He worked as a tool and die maker for Western Electric Company, which became Lucent Technologies, for over 35 years. After retiring from Lucent Technologies, he worked for R & D tool in Lee's Summit and Mr. Longarm in Greenwood, MO.
Terry and Bonnie were founding members of Cornerstone Baptist Church in Lee's Summit, and in 1966 he was ordained a Deacon. Terry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and brother who will always be remembered as a true servant of God and he will be dearly missed by so many.
In 2006, Terry officially retired and spent his time surrounded by what he enjoyed most. The majority of his time was spent enjoying experiences with his grandchildren. He was an active golfer and enjoyed all activities surrounding trains and airplanes.
Terry is survived by the love of his life and wife of over 60 years, Bonnie Smith; sons, Mike (Janice) Smith and Tim (Shirley) Smith; grandchildren Adam and KayLee Smith;
step-grandchildren, Meagan Garnet and Zane Moriarty; 3 great-step-granddaughters; sister, Pam (Gale) Oliver: and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glaud Leslie Smith, Jr., Wilma Rosalie Smith, and daughter-in-law, Tammy Smith.
