Wilbur R. Smith, 88, of Sugar Creek, died November 28, 2006 at St. Lukes Hospital East. Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, December 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at Mound Grove Cemetery. Mr. Smith was retired from Amoco Oil Company where he worked as a stillman helper. He also built houses and duplexes on the side. Wilbur was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. Wilbur was a kind and sweet man who was handy with tools. His hobby was as a collector of antique padlocks and keys. He loved to travel. Wilbur was a member of the R.L.D.S. Church and a life member of the VFW Post in Sugar Creek. He was born in Independence, Missouri on September 26, 1918 the son of Edgar and Jesse Smith. He married Neva Hunsucker who preceded him in death on May 6, 1997. He is survived by a daughter, Glenda Tilsworth of Sugar Creek, a granddaughter Lori Swanson and her husband Eric of Lake Elmo, Minnesota and three great grandchildren, Tyler, Erica and Alexander.
