Bill Smith, 82, of Independence, MO passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2019. A celebration of his life will be from 2-4 on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055.
Bill was born on April 19, 1936 in Coffeyville, KS to William Harvey and Margaret (Jewett) Smith. He spent many years as a Broadcast Engineer for Channel 4 News. He was very inquisitive, wanting to research and see how things worked. Bill loved being a handyman to many and telling stories. His past-times included computers, being with his family and eating out at local restaurants. His favorite places were Tim’s Pizza, Dixon’s Chili Parlor, and Bates City BBQ.
Bill will be remembered by his sons Mike Smith of Nixa, MO, Steve Smith and fiancée Laura Roberts of Keytesville, MO; brother Frank E. Smith of Overland Park, KS; grandkids Stephanie Thomas (Corey), Stephen Smith, Caitlin Smith and Lucas Smith; and great-grandkids Olivia, Ella, and Ava Thomas.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Kansas City Hospice House.
