Amlyr Lee Sopcich, 92, Independence, MO passed away June 25, 2006. A Mass Of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, Wed., June 28, 2006 at St. Ann�s Catholic Church; interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. The Rosary will be said at 6 pm, Tuesday at Carson-Speaks Chapel, followed by a visitation from 6:30-8 pm. Amlyr was born Sept. 1, 1913 in Denver, MO and graduated from Bethany (MO) High School. She was a longtime Sugar Creek resident who had been a Chief Deputy for the Jackson Co. Collectors Office, an Asst. Vice President at Standard State Bank and eventually owned her own tax preparation service. She was a member of St. Ann�s Church where she served for two years as President of the Altar Society. Amlyr was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her husband of 56 years John W. Sopcich, of the home; daughter Pamela Raney and husband Charles, Wasella, AK; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
