Herbert M. Soule Jr., 70, passed away on November 14, 2014 at North Kansas City Hospital surrounded by family. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., and a Memorial Service will begin at 4:00 P.M. at the Mike Onka Memorial Hall, 11520 Putnam, Sugar Creek, MO 64054. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Surviving Spouse Family Endowment Fund (S.A.F.E.), 3100 Broadway, Suite #226, Kansas City, MO 64111. Herb was born on September 11, 1944 in New Orleans, LA. His family moved to Sugar Creek, MO when he was young. In 1966, he became a Police Officer in Sugar Creek, and continued to climb in rank until his election as Chief of Police in 2001. Herb was involved in many organizations, including but not limited to: Chairman of Board of Directors for the Jackson County Drug Task Force, member of the Executive Board for the creation of Jackson County COMBAT and Part-Time Instructor at the Western Missouri Regional Police Academy. Herb was preceded in death by his wife Carolyn in 2004, and brothers Terry and Ron Soule. He leaves behind brother Kenneth Soule and wife Lisa; four children: daughter Cassie Williams and husband Eddie; son Alan Engle and wife Brenda; son Jim Engle and wife Lori; son Russ Engle and wife Mitzi and his wife Joannette “Jen” Odle, He also has 11 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Herb was loved by many and will be missed by all.
