Pearl Southard

October 24, 1913 — June 28, 2013

Pearl Opal Southard, 99 of Kansas City, MO passed away, Friday, June 28, 2013 at Carmel Hills Living Center.

Services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052. Burial will follow in Mt. Washington Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Monday evening at the chapel. Pearl was born October 24, 1913 in Cross Timbers, MO to Ezra and Minnie (McCarty) Nance and has been a lifelong area resident.

She was a beloved wife and homemaker and had worked at Lake City Ammunition Plant during WWII. She enjoyed gardening and helping other people. She was baptized in the Community of Christ church and had also attended the Baptist church. She was married to Johnnie Southard who preceded her in death in 1980. She is survived by; 6 nieces and nephews, Jim, Marsha, Michael, Melinda, Charlene and Sherri; 9 great nieces and nephews and, numerous great great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by; 2 brothers, Delmar and Charles; 3 nephews, Lawrence, Donald and Ronald.
