Wayne Sparks

January 20, 1950 — November 13, 2011

Richard Wayne Sparks, 61, Blue Springs, MO died unexpectedly Nov. 13, 2011. Services will be 10 am, Thursday, Nov. 17 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 pm, Wed. at the chapel.

Wayne was born Jan. 20, 1950 in Independence, MO. He graduated from Fort Osage High School then attended junior college at Wentworth Military Academy. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked at Hallmark Cards for thirty-seven years and retired in 2005. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, hunting, fishing, golfing and working in his yard. Most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Wayne was preceded in death by his father Clarence Sparks and step-daughter Shelly Behnke. He is survived by his wife Sharon Sparks, of the home; daughters Crystal Gorham, Blue Springs, MO; Carrie Lasater and husband P.J., Greenwood, MO; step-son Brian Behnke and wife Kim, Blue Springs, MO; grandchildren Tori Rhodelander, Tre Gorham, Avery Lasater, Ashley and Olyvia Behnke; mother Ruby Sparks, Lincoln, MO; sisters Linda Donahue and husband David; Vicki Young and husband Monte, all of Warsaw, MO; many aunts, nieces and nephews.
