Nancy J. Speaks, 71, Independence, MO, formerly of Lamoni, IA, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005, at the Independence Regional Health Center. Visitation will be 7-8:30 pm Friday, March 18, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm Saturday, at the Lamoni Community of Christ; burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2:00 pm on Saturday. Nancy was born July 1, 1933, in Osceola, IA, to Martin and Pauline (Bailey) Hynden. She attended Graceland College. She loved sports and had played basketball, tennis and golf for many years. She owned and operated Hynden Insurance Agency in Lamoni, along with her brother, Bob Hynden. After retiring in 1998, Nancy moved to Independence. She was a lifelong member of the Community of Christ, having attended the Lamoni congregation for many years, then the Stone Church, and finally the Groves congregation. Nancy is survived by her two children, Brad Speaks and wife Mary Kay, Independence, MO, and Laura Oldenburg and husband Dave, Madison WI; 4 grandchildren, Ciera Speaks, Lamoni IA, and James, Grace, and Faith Oldenburg, all of Madison; her brother, Bob Hynden and sister-in-law Yvonne, Lamoni; numerous nieces and nephews; and many other loving relatives and friends. http://www.facebook.com/speaksfuneralhome
