Francis "Frank� E. Spellman, 75, Blue Springs, MO passed away July 30, 2006 at his home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Wed., Aug. 2, 2006 at St. Mary�s Catholic Church in Independence; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. The Rosary will be said at 6:00 pm, Tuesday at Speaks Suburban Chapel, followed by a visitation from 6:30-8:30.
Frank was born Dec. 18, 1930 to Frank and Olivette (Biringer) Spellman in Kansas City, KS. He graduated from Manuel High School where he earned National All-America Honors in football. Frank was very proud to be a U.S. Marine. He took part in the landing at Inchon, Korea, and served on the front lines for eleven months during the Korean War. On Jan. 16, 1954 he married Lois Marie Bone, his loving wife of 52 years. He was a member of American Legion Post #21, was a founding Board member and coach for the Independence Pop Warner Football Program, a Junior Achievement volunteer, past Commodore of the Pontoon Boat Club at Lake Jacomo, and a member of the Parish at St. Mary�s. Frank worked at Sheffield Steel for thirty years, retiring in July, 1982.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Richard. He is survived by his wife Lois M. Spellman, of the home; son Randy E. Spellman, Overland Park, KS; daughters Diana M. Magill, Grandview, MO; Karen S. Ray, Raymore, MO; son Michael T. Spellman and wife Janet, Blue Springs, MO; brother William Spellman and wife Delores, Sun City West, AZ; sister Jean Marie Maimer and husband Ben, Osawatomie, KS; grandchildren Ryan & Troy Spellman, Zachary & Justin Magill, Ashley Totten, Nicolas & Tara Spellman; and great-grandson Blake Spellman.
