Curtis Spencer III, 40, of Kansas City, MO passed away Saturday, April 4, 2020. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Curtis was born on September 10, 1979 to Belinda Spencer and Curtis Spencer Jr in Benton Harbor, Michigan. Curtis moved to Kansas City, MO when he was 12 years old with his mother and sister. He was the student body president and prom king at William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO. He graduated in 1997. He worked for EverReady Services for the last 5 years.
His proudest moments in life were the days his sons were born. He loved them tremendously and would do anything for them. Curtis had a lot of love to give and it showed through his hugs, his smile, and his character. He made you smile just by walking into the room. His laugh was contagious. He gave all the credit of who he was to his mother. He said she taught him to be a good father to his boys, Legend and Yeshua. He was raising them to be respectful young men. He had a special place in his heart for his two nieces, Tajere and Maleah. He loved these girls as if they were his own
.
Curtis adored the love of his life, Jeanette, or as he called her Gorgeous. He admired and respected her with everything he had and always showed her how much he loved her by his actions. The love they shared was undeniable and unbreakable. He took her children, Ali and Chava, in as his own and told everyone he had four children, not just two.
Curtis had a love and passion for music and showed no discrimination to any genre. He enjoyed finding the “underground hits” as he would call them. He really felt the music down to his soul and really listened to the lyrics. He enjoyed working with two radio stations, so he could introduce new music and independent artists.
Curtis was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Bertha Spencer and paternal grandfather Curtis Spencer, Sr and is survived by his two amazing sons, Legend and Yeshua Spencer (of the home), his mother whom he adored, Belinda Spencer (Independence, MO), his father Curtis Spencer Jr (Louisiana), his sister Melissa Spencer (Independence, MO), two nieces Tajere and Maleah, his paternal grandmother Liza Spencer (Eudora, AR), longtime girlfriend Jeanette Cervantes (of the home), step-children Ali Cervantes (Jacob) and Sal “Chava” Cervantes, and so many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whom he loved dearly.
