Kathleen Marie “Kathy” Spicer, 69, passed away on July 6, 2020 in Independence, MO.
Kathy was born on July 15, 1950, in Kansas City, MO, the second daughter of Gerald Grace and Anna Plese Grace. She and her siblings were raised in the Catholic faith. She was a graduate of Northeast High School in the class of 1968, and she married Mack Spicer in October of 1974. They were blessed with one daughter, Jennifer “Jenna” Spicer.
Kathy worked with various companies including St. Luke’s Hospital, KPL Gas Service, and Commerce Bank. She enjoyed tending to her tulips and roses in the garden and walking her beloved dogs – Carly, Gizmo, and Tazzy – through the neighborhood, making sure to stop and visit with the neighbors in her area. She constantly read and excelled in cooking meals for the family. She made frequent trips to Arkansas to visit her parents when they relocated there, and she always adored having Jenna visit her because they could go on shopping adventures together. She also liked to visit museums with Mack, and to go out to lunch with her girlfriends for their birthdays.
Kathy is survived by her daughter Jenna (Rick) Ward; her six siblings and their families: sister Carolyn (Larry) Dyer, their son Chad (Cathy) Dyer, and their three children Vanessa, Marcus, and Andrew Meriwether and their daughter Christina (Dennis) Bordner; sister Francine (Tony) Murdock and their daughter Rose Murdock, brother Steve (Kathleen) Grace, sister Susan Grace and her daughter Stephanie (Luke) Conover and their four children Chance, Logan, Claire, and Cole Conover, sister Mary (Richard) Williams, and brother John Grace and his sons Gabe and Joel Grace; her aunt Louise (Jean) Rose; her puppy Carly; and her grandpuppies Mojo and Karma.
