Suzanne Kay Spitler, 70 of Independence, MO passed away, Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at her residence. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO 64052 with visitation to follow. Donations may be made in her name to the Heartland Hospice 4601 College, Leawood, KS 66211. Suzanne was born February 15, 1943 in Independence, MO to Ray Edward and Ruth Ashburn (Turner) Forbes. She grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Paseo High School in 1961. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed genealogy work, crafts, painting, sewing and most of all spending time with her family especially her grandchildren. She had worked for the State of Missouri, Division of Health and Social Services as secretary to the program director for the past 19 years until she retired in 2012. She is survived by; her loving husband of nearly 52 years, Wade of the home; a daughter, Dawn Roberge and husband Garry of O’Fallon, MO; a son, Dennis Spitler of Independence, MO; a sister, Deanna Maus and husband Raymond of Independence, MO; a brother, Bill Forbes and wife Kathleen of Kansas City, MO; 3 grandchildren, Kristin and husband Evan, Andrew and Brian and 1 great grandchild, Teagan.
