Harold D. "Zip� Srader, 88, of Independence died August 25, 2006 at Carmel Hills Living Center. Visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening at Speaks Suburban Chapel followed by Funeral Services at 7:30 p.m. Graveside Services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence. Mr. Srader was born in Independence, Mo. on August 31, 1917 the son of John Robert and Dora Velma (Chrisman) Srader. Mr. Srader was a graduate of William Chrisman High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served in World War II. Zip was an Accountant for Standard Oil in Sugar Creek until his retirement in 1976. He loved gardening and was especially well known for his tomatoes. Zip loved the outdoors, and working in his yard. He enjoyed woodworking and fixing things. Mr. Srader married Allene B. (Miller) Franklin in Independence, Mo. on August 2, 1947 and recently celebrated 59 years of marriage. She survives. He is also survived by two daughters, Catherine Ann Drake and husband Everett, and Sally Sue Gulley all of Independence; five granddaughters, Debbie, Teffinie, Jackie, Susan and April; seven great grandchildren, Justin, Christopher, Andrew, Devin, Caroline, Mason and Payton; three sisters, Dot, Frances and Pauline, and many brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions are suggested to Northland Hospice. Online condolences to www.speakschapel.com. Speaks Suburban Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
