Ruby Marie Stacker, 93 of Independence, Missouri passed away Saturday July 7, 2007. She was born July 28,1913, Pangman, Sask. Canada. She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Clinton Stacker, her parents Charles Bentley and Minnie Rasmussen Bentley, two brothers, Vernon and Ora Bentley.
Ruby and her family moved to Werner, North Dakota when she was three years old. She grew up in Werner and attended and graduated from Werner High School. Ruby loved playing basketball. During her senior year in high school, her team won all their games and placed first in the tournament.
Ruby attended Dickinson State Teachers College for a time until she met Ralph, the love of her life. Ralph and Ruby were married August 12,1931 at Beach North Dakota, They had two children, Donald James and Joan Marie. The family owned various businesses including a five and dime store, later the Stacker Telephone Company. She worked in support of these endeavors, but always was a faithful mother and homemaker.
She became a naturalized citizen in 1953. Ralph often teased Ruby that when she misbehaved that he was going to have her deported back to Canada.
Ruby was a baptized member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (Restoration). Ralph and Ruby faithfully attended church and Ruby was the organist for the Dunn Center North Dakota Branch.
Ruby was a devout Christian, devoted mother and grandmother, who always had time for the grandkids and great-grandkids, even when ill.
She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her many friends and family. She is survived by her son Don Stacker and (Bett) and her daughter Joan Sharkey (Harold); grandchildren Becky Gearhart, Bobbie Sourwine, Scott Sharkey, Karmen Davenport, Kim Sharkey-Weber, Donna Getz, and nine great grandchildren.
The family will receive visitors at 9:00 a.m., with funeral to follow at 10:00 a.m. Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO.
