Joe Stampfel, 86, of Sugar Creek, MO, passed away Friday, February 10th at his home. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 14th at St. Ann�s Catholic Church. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Monday, February 13th at Carson-Speaks Chapel, where the rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Joe was born October 15, 1919 in Kansas City, Kansas to Pete and Josie (Russ) Stampfel. Mr. Stampfel proudly served his country in the Navy during WWII. He was a professional horse jockey during the early 40�s. Joe retired from Standard Oil Co. in 1979 after 34 years of employment. He was dedicated to his family always there with a helping hand. Joe�s life was centered around his wife, Anne, where they enjoyed spending time together. He could be found puttering in the garage with the "gang�, Billy, Burt, Mike and Andy. Mr. Stampfel is survived by his son Leonard Stampfel and wife Diane, daughters JoAnn Onka and husband Dennis, Jan Shelton and husband Randy; grandchildren Michelle, Jennifer, Jeannette, Mike, Jason, Matt, Paige, Adam and Cody; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters Mary Hurley and Helen Chumley; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends. Joe was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Anne in 2001, and his brother Albert Stampfel. A special thanks to the "Girls�, who cared for him during the past year.
