Standley "Stan" Sherman Skinner

Today we celebrate the extraordinary life of Standley S. Skinner—a loving father, devoted grandfather, talented craftsman, and proud veteran of the United States Navy. Stan was preceded in death by his parents, Beverly L. Skinner and Jane Marie Crockett, his three brothers, Harold “Buddy,” Oscar, and Gerald “Jerry,” and his beloved grandson, Tristn Mick.

He is survived by both his daughters, Stancia and her husband Robert Cox and Alison Blankenship. As well as his grandson, Nicholas Stephenson and Tara, parents of Kylie and little Nick, and his only granddaughter, Kerrie Ann Mick. His Fiancée, Sharon Mendolia and her two sons, Robert and Brian Masters. 

Stan faced tremendous challenges from a young age. After losing his mother at just five years old, he spent a year of his life in an iron lung due to polio, which left half of his throat paralyzed. Yet, he rose above these adversities with unwavering strength and determination. A graduate of East High School in 1964, Stan served in the Navy before joining the Painter's Union Local #3, where he showcased his creativity and meticulous craftsmanship. 

He was a proud father to his two daughters, Stancia and Alison, and cherished his role as a grandfather to Nicholas, Tara, and their children, Kylie and little Nick, as well as his granddaughter, Kerrie Ann Mick. Stan was actively involved in their lives, coaching Stancia's softball team and creating lasting memories, including the adoption of their beloved dog, Snoopy.

With a legacy rooted in ranching, Stan embraced his cowboy spirit, restoring the artistry of spur making to honor his father’s legacy. His passion led him to participate in numerous western shows and auctions, where he generously donated to cancer research and the Cowboy Museum in Texas.

Stan was known for his love of road trips, camping, and tailgating at Chiefs games, where his home became the hub for Super Bowl celebrations filled with his famous chili and cowboy beans. He was the kind of man who was always there when you needed him, and his absence will be felt deeply.

Standley Skinner, you will be truly missed, but your spirit lives on in the hearts of all who loved you. Thank you for the memories, the laughter, and the love you shared with us.
