Harry Standley, 84, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2016. A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 11, 2016 at the chapel. Harry was born on November 18, 1931 in Ethel, MO to John and Ada Standley. After graduating high school, Harry joined the United States Marine Corps. He married Judith Armstrong in 1957 and together they raised 3 children. They took annual fishing trips to Minnesota every summer. He was a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 161 and a Warrior in Mic-O-Say. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his vegetable garden. Most of all he enjoyed being with his family, especially the grandkids. Harry will be remembered by his wife of 59 years, Judith, of the home; daughter Marlene Standley of DeSoto, KS; sons Daniel Standley of Pleasant Hill, MO, and David Standley and wife Sue of New Baltimore, MI; brother Robert Standley and wife Nola; sisters Doris Leibhart, Dorothy Cunningham; sister in law Hazel Standley; grandchildren Jenny, Jesi, Jaci, Daniel, Ian, Dillon, Seth, Xander, and Isabelle; and great-grandchildren Shelby, William, Makayla, Landon, Jack, Blythe, and George. Harry was preceded in death by his sister Merta Lewis and a brother Frank Standley. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Missouri Department of Conservation.
