Darlene "Kaye" Stanger (Courtney)

Darlene “Kaye” Stanger, 76 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, July 1, 2018 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening at the chapel. Donations may be made in her name to the Fort Osage Alumni Association, P.O. Box 182, Buckner, Mo 64016. Kaye was born September 21, 1941 in Valparaiso, IN to Earl and Marjorie (McDonald) Courtney. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1960. She was a beloved wife, mother and homemaker who enjoyed quilting, craft work and was an excellent cook. She and her husband owned and operated ABC Auction Company for 42 years. She was a member of the Fort Osage Boosters Club, The Fort Osage Pioneers and the Fort Osage Alumni Association. She was also a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church. Survivors include; her loving husband of 57 years, Edward Stanger of the home; a daughter, Dawn Privett and husband Curtis of Independence, MO; her mother-in-law, Ruth Stanger of Blue Springs, MO; 2 brothers, Kenneth Courtney and wife Merle of Butler, MO and Lee Courtney and wife Kathy of Blue Springs, MO; 2 sisters-in-law, Carol Hotter and husband Bob of Edwards, MO and Pat Stanger of Kingsville, MO; 4 grandchildren, Lee, LaRae, Jennifer and James and 2 great grandchildren, Jillian and Jackson Ryan.
