Roy C. Stanger, 86, of Independence, MO, passed away Tuesday, February 21st at the Medical Center of Independence. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 25th at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m. Friday at the chapel. Burial in Salem Cemetery. Roy was born October 24, 1919 in Doby Springs, OK to Christian and Florence (Shannon) Stanger. He was one of six children. Roy loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Atherton United Methodist Church. Mr. Stanger was a proud veteran of WWII having served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He was a jokester who loved his daughters and grandsons. Roy is survived by his wife of 57 years, Freda (Ragan) Stanger; daughters Viola Sopher, Barbara J. Sopher and husband Jim Jr., Susan Hightower and husband Terry; grandsons Jason M. and Chris R. Sopher; brother Eb Stanger and sister Stella Bittle; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers and 1 sister.
