Lewayne O. "Starky" Starks

LeWayne O. "Starky� Starks, 80, passed away Monday, May 17, 2004 at his home. Services will be 10:30 am Thursday, May 20th at George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home; with interment in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 7 to 8:30 pm at the funeral home. He was born September 13, 1923 in Jackson County, MO to Othel and Melba Starks. He lived most of his life in the Fairmount/Sugar Creek area. Starky retired from Columbian Steel Tank Division, of Trico Industries, Inc. in 1984 as welding supervisor after more than 42 years. He was a member of the Tirey J. Ford American Legion Post #21; a retired member of the American Welding Society after serving more than 47 years. Starky was a World War II veteran of the Air Force, serving as a radio operator. He was a member of the Mt. Washington Baptist Church. Starky was preceded in death by his parents and one brother. He is survived by his wife, Mary L. Starks; sons, Samuel W. Starks of Salem, MO, and Larry W. Starks of Odessa, MO; granddaughters, Rachel and Jacki; grandson, Nicholas Starks; a sister, Laila Gilmore.
