Addie Starr, 90, of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, February 7, 2016. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00am Wednesday, February 10, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00am at the chapel. Burial will be at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens, Independence, MO.
Addie was born September 10, 1925 in Granby, MO as one of thirteen children to Will and Ruth (Mitchell) White. After graduating high school she married Edward Starr on July 24, 1943 in Ft. Scott, KS. Together they raised three children. She worked as a secretary for Hallmark until her retirement in 1986. Addie and Ed enjoyed traveling to Truman Lake and fishing together. She also enjoyed caring for her grandchildren during the day. Her family remembers her bubbly and loving spirit.
Addie will be missed by son, Ken Starr (Mickey) of Odessa, MO; daughter, Peggy Keller (Lon) of Oak Grove, MO; daughter Cheryl Smith of Lenexa, KS; sister-in-law, Peggy Kuhlman (George) of Moundville, MO; sister-in-law, Wilma Starr of Nevada, MO; five grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her siblings and her beloved husband of 68 years, Edward. The family encourages contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association in her memory.
