In memory of Harry Moroni Steede (90) of Independence, MO; born December 6, 1927 and passed January 13, 2018. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 4, 2018, at 2:00 pm at the Beacon Heights Community of Christ church located at 19402 E. Holke Rd, Independence, MO 64057.
Harry was born in Ladysmith, Wisconsin to Harry Frank Steede and Dora Steede. He was employed as a milk man’s assistant about the age of 10, and worked hard his entire life. He was still working part time at his heating and cooling company at his time of passing.
Harry joined the navy in 1945, and served 2 years in the medical corps.
He was baptized in the Community of Christ church at 8 years old, and remained a faithful member and priesthood member his entire life. In the last 18 months of his life he performed a baby blessing, several administrations, a house blessing, and preached and presided in several services.
Harry is preceded by his mother, father, 2 brothers, and 4 sisters, and 1 great-grandchild. He is also preceded by countless friends that have now welcomed him at the door of the great reunion.
He is survived by his wife of almost 70 years, Clara Agnes Steede, his 4 children, Neil Steede (Trudy); Kim Steede (Susan); Carla Cole; and Lynn McMillan (Don); 24 Grandchildren including spouses; and 14 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be donated to “The Children’s Place,” located at 2 E 59th St., Kansas City, MO 64113, and please indicate the donation is in honor of Harry Steede.
The family of Harry Steede wishes to express their sincere thanks to the hundreds of people who prayed for Harry, and supported them in many ways.
Harry’s greatest pleasures included being with his family, his church and church friends, working hard, and traveling the world. He will be missed by all who share these memories with him.
