Kirk D. Steenhusen

Kirk D. Steenhusen, of Kansas City, MO, passed away on Tuesday, October 4, 2022. He was 67 years old. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Tuesday, October 11th with a service at 2:00pm on Wednesday, October 12th; both at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Raytown.

Kirk was born on January 21, 1955, in Harlan, IA to Peter and Patricia (Ferry) Steenhusen. He graduated from Irwin High School and went on to attain his Associates Degree from Western Iowa Community College. In 1995, he completed a bachelor’s degree from UMKC and not long after, began working for UMKC as a computer programmer analyst.

By the age of 2, Kirk was in love with the guitar, and it was clear that he had a natural gift. His friends formed a band called The American Heritage Eagles, playing different events in the area. Kirk will be remembered as tenderhearted, kind and generous. He loved his family deeply.

Kirk is survived by his beloved wife, Kathleen M. Steenhusen; parents, Peter and Patricia Steenhusen; 2 sisters, Lori Steenhusen Rankin and Lana (Bennett) Leuschen; sister-in-law, Peggy Veach; brother-in-law, David (Kristen) Morgan; many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.

Kirk had two dear friends precede him in death, Pat Lafferty and Marty Monson and his grandparents, Peter and Mildred Steenhusen and Ray and Ruby Ferry.
