Donald “Don” Steinbach, a great, hardworking, man of pride, passed away September 9, 2021 at the age of 77. A visitation will be held from 5-7:00 pm Saturday, September 11 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64055. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Sunday, September 12 at the chapel with graveside services to follow at 4:00 pm at Salem Cemetery in Foster, MO.
Don was born September 17, 1943. He spent his childhood in Montrose, MO with five of his siblings where he learned the value of a hard days work. In 1963 he married Barbara Simmons and together raised two wonderful children, Michael and Lori.
Don was a perfectionist who took pride in everything he did, from the beauty of his and Barb’s yard to his ability to fix anything. Don’s dedication and love for his family is unmatched as his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren meant the world to him. Together they enjoyed the outdoors while hunting and fishing, barbecuing, and simply being together. Don, the gentle giant, will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Don is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Steinbach; son, Michael Steinbach, his wife Missy and their children: Derek, Jessie, and Amanda; daughter, Lori Halsey, her husband Brad and their children: Kailey and Jarett; two great-grandchildren: Brantley and Stetson; brother, Ed Steinbach and wife Barbara; sisters Sandra Steinbach and Sylvia Smith and her husband Allen; brother-in-law, Ivan Corp and a host of extended family and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Catherine (Volmer) Steinbach; his brother Daniel Steinbach; and his sister Janice Corp.
