Robert “Bob” Edward Steinberg, 70, of Independence, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 13, 2013, at Saint Luke’s Hospice House, Kansas City, MO.
Bob was born August 2, 1943 in Mason City, IA, the son of John Henry and Ethel Lorine (George) Steinberg. He graduated from Clear Lake High School, Clear Lake, IA in 1961. Bob attended Mason City Junior College, Mason City, IA, and Drake University, Des Moines, IA, where he received his degree in pharmacy and became a Registered Pharmacist in 1966.
Bob was employed by pharmacies in Mason City, IA and owned pharmacies in Carroll and Jefferson, Iowa, before accepting a job with the VA where he was employed in VA hospital pharmacies in Des Moines, IA, San Francisco, CA, and Kansas City, MO. He retired from Kansas City VA Medical Center in 2009.
Bob was united in marriage with Marilyn Brittingham Mitchell on August 30, 1993. He is the father of Sharai Ann Steinberg Koons from a previous marriage.
Robert is survived by his wife, Marilyn Mitchell; his daughter, Sharai Koons (Marcus); a step-daughter, Shelley Mitchell (Ken Pepple); one grandchild, Chelsy Koons; a sister, Bonnie Christensen (John), and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
