Jean L. Steinman
Jean L. Steinman, 90, of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 19, 2022. Jean was born to Hubert and Bessie Canterbury on May 20, 1931 in Wathena, Kansas.
Jean spent most of her life in the Kansas City area. Her family moved often but she was able to remain close to her roots within Independence and Buckner areas. At a young age Jean met her best friend and the love of her life Melvin. They were married and spent 49 years creating a life together. To this union came 2 sons, Michael and Randy. Jean was a devoted mother and caretaker. She always kept a pristine home and yard. She was always involved in her boys lives and activities, never missing an event. Jean enjoyed bowling in leagues at Maywood Bowl, was active within her church, Bethel Baptist and was a woman of faith. Jean and Melvin loved to travel together after retirement but above all they were dedicated, doting grandparents once their granddaughter Eva was born. She was the center of their world. Jean’s kind spirit will be missed beyond measure by her family and friends.
Jean is survived by her sons, Michael Steinman and Randy Steinman (Jan); granddaughter, Eva Daetwiler (Zech) and sister, Thelma Anderson (Jerry).
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melvin; her parents, Hubert and Bessie; brothers, Hubert Canterbury and Robert Canterbury; infant son and several nieces and nephews.
