Stephen Craig Doctor, 75, of Independence, MO, passed away at his home on September 14th after a long and fulfilling life.
Craig was born on August 27, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was the son of B. Maxine Doctor and Richard Notley Doctor. After Craig graduated from Raytown High School in 1967, he attended CMSU and Longview College.
Craig married Donita (Welsh) on June 7, 1969, and during their over 55 years of marriage had two children: Brian and Sheri. Craig proudly enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1968 and served a tour in Vietnam after marriage in 1970.
Family, fishing and service were the pillars of Craig’s life. He was a proud member of Boy Scout Troop 492, DeMolay Masonic Sect, the Susquehanna Baptist Church, Men of Honor Bass Fishing Club, and the Wounded Warriors Project, where he took suffering soldiers fishing.
Craig is survived by his devoted wife Donita, his children: Brian Doctor & Sheri (Doctor) Thomson, and his grandchildren: Aiden Doctor, Sam Doctor, Lillia Thomson and Emery Thomson.
A special thank you to his friends and former co-workers for being such an important part of his life.
Visitation services will be held Wednesday, October 2nd from 6:00pm-8:00pm at Speaks Memorial Suburban Chapel in Independence. A graveside service will be the following day, Thursday, October 3rd at 11:00am at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Higginsville.
