Warner Stephens, 89, formerly of Independence, MO. passed away Thursday, November 1, 2012 at the home of their daughter and son- in- law Jack and Marsha Campbell of Spring, Texas. He lived in Independence, MO. for 88 years.
Warner was born October 17, 1923. One of six children born to Warner and Virginia Wilson Stephens in Independence, MO. 3 sisters Vera Garland Johnston, Mary Bewley, and Frances Beshoner, Two brothers Verlyn Stephens, and Parvin Stephens, all deceased.
He is survived by his wife of 66 years Betty Walker Stephens and one daughter, Marsha Lynn Campbell and husband Jack Campbell, Four grandsons, Chad Antoine, Derek Stephen Campbell, Brandon Alan Campbell, Preston Walker Campbell, one granddaughter, Kimberly Beth Jones, Three great granddaughter’s, Janie Lynn Antoine, Ella Caroline Campbell, and Brandi Kaye Fockler, five great grandson’s, Garrison Walker Antoine, Carter Wilson Antoine, Chandler Hughes Campbell, Jackson Warner Campbell, and Wyatt Carson Jones. And several nieces and nephews.
He was a World War II veteran of the first Marine Division serving in the South Pacific Theater at Guadalcanal, New Britian, Peleliu, Okinawa, and China.
He was a 35 year employee of Western Electric, AT&T and Alcatel Lucent.
Donations may be made to the American Red Cross.
Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel: 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO. A celebration of Warner’s life will be at 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial to follow at Woodlawn Cemetery with military honors.
