Betty Lee Stephenson, 88, beloved mother and friend, was called to her eternal resting place on November 8, 2016. She entered this world on February 5, 1928 in Richland, MO, born to Otto and Edna Anderson. She is survived by her daughter Stephanie Stephenson of Independence, sons Russell of Ozark, MO and Charles and his wife Rise Stephenson of Lee's Summit; as well as five grandchildren, David III, Candice, Cassie, Christopher, and Aaron Stephenson. Betty is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, David; her daughter, Patti Fitzwater and her 6 brothers and 2 sisters.
Betty was a lifetime member of the First Christian Church of Independence and also a member at Raymore Christian Church. She spent countless hours volunteering for Meals on Wheels with David, teaching Sunday school and serving in an Independence well-baby clinic sponsored by her church. She will be remembered for her gift of hospitality, her amazing meatloaf and her deep love for her family. A visitation will be held on November 11, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. with a service following at 2:00 p.m. at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO. Burial will follow at Mt. Washington.
A memorial service will also be held on November 15th at 10:00am in the Bromwell Lounge at Foxwood Springs Assisted Living Center, 1500 W Foxwood Dr. Raymore, MO 64083.
