John Emmett Stephenson
John Emmett Stephenson, formerly of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, in Independence, Missouri. He was 80 years of age.
John was born on July 27, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, the only son of Emmett and Maurine (Helm) Stephenson. He graduated from Raytown High School in the class of 1960 and continued on to college at University of Central Missouri obtaining a Double Masters, Specialist Degree, in Education Administration. John proudly served in the United States Navy on the USS Lofberg. John married his best friend and the love of his life Beverly on December 20, 1963. From their union came two children, Eric and Jeannae.
In his spare time John loved music and enjoyed playing his banjo and was an avid ferroequinologist. Scouts were very Important to John, he achieved the rank of Eagle and was a Sachem in the Tribe of Mic-o-say. Most of all John loved his family. He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed.
John is survived by his wife, Beverly Stephenson; his children, Eric (Jennifer Morrow) Stephenson, Jeannae (Charles) Brown; grandchildren, Paloma (Scott) Brown, Kelci (Christian) Chard; and a very special great grandson on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emmett and Maurine Stephenson.
A memorial visitation and service will take place Sunday, October 30, 2022, at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, Missouri, 64052. Family will greet guest between the hours of 1-2pm, with service beginning at 2pm.
