Jeanne Sterrett, 90, of Independence, Mo., passed away Friday afternoon, April 8, 2016, in her home with her loving family at her bedside. Services will be 10 am, Thursday, April 14 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Wed. at the chapel. Jeanne was born on October 22, 1925 to Herbert Voltmann and Elizabeth Voltmann (née Poulaillon) in Steubenville, Ohio and grew up in Lincoln Park, Michigan. In 1943, Jeanne came to Independence for nurse's training where she met Richard Sterrett, who she would later marry on January 1, 1947. Jeanne was baptized and was a faithful member of the RLDS church and later the Restoration. Jeanne and Richard were blessed with eight children. Jeanne was involved with Skylarks & Orioles with her five daughters and the scouts with her three sons. She loved to sew and quilt, skills which she learned from her mother. Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Voltmann. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Richard, her daughters: Marda Kline (Gregg), Paula Johnson (Joseph), Cathy Deike (Steve), Mary Waddell (Don), Patricia Morrow (Brent), sons: Thomas Sterrett (Marcia), Kevin Sterrett (Julie), Steven Sterrett (Darla), and niece, Renée Voltmann of Lake Worth, Florida. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. The Strerrett Family would also like to thank Interim Hospice for all their help and care for "Mom".
