Michele D. Steuer, 47, Independence, MO passes away March 15, 2014. Services will be 2 pm, Wed., March 19 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-8 pm, Tuesday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to the S.B.A. (Spina Bifida Association) 4590 MacArthur Blvd. NW, Ste. 250, Washington, DC 20007. Michele was born March 11, 1967 in St. Louis, MO. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1987. She was a poster child for the Easter Seals Campaign in St. Louis and posed with Stan Musial and Peggy Fleming. She was also an athlete in Special Olympics competing in bowling, wheelchair soccer and track and field events. Most recently she adapted the Turbo Kicks exercise program to the needs of disabled children and became a certified program instructor. She was also a host for special needs participants at the Eitas 5K Run, Walk or Roll Marathon. This year the event will be in Michele’s Honor. She also attended many camps throughout her life. Michele was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Steuer on June 21, 2010. She is survived by her mother Jean Steuer, Independence, MO; brothers Michael Steuer, San Francisco, CA; Greg Steuer, wife Theresa and son Robert, Marietta, GA and many loving family members and friends.
