Barbara Pauline Stevens

Barbara Pauline "Polly� Stevens, 76, passed away Saturday, November 29, 2003 at Lee�s Summit Hospital after a long illness. Polly was born on July 9, 1927 in Shreveport, LA but considered herself a Texan, having lived most of her life in Austin. She was the only child of Samuel Paul and Mamie Bryant, both of whom predeceased her. Polly was employed as an Executive Secretary at several organizations, including the University of Texas Medical Center, Balcones Country Club, and CIC until her retirement in 1993. Polly was a strong woman, ahead of her time. She loved football, Mexican food, and always remembered everyone�s name. We want to extend a special "thank you� to the folks at the John Knox Village Care Center for the wonderful support and treatment she received there. Polly is survived by her son, Terry P. Matthews and his fianc�, Jennifer D. Nicholson of Lee�s Summit, MO; daughter, Allison Eklund of Fredricksburg, TX; grandson, Jason Eklund of Austin, TX; and her granddaughter, Chandra Eklund of Point Hueneme, CA. Polly wished to be cremated and her ashes spread over Lake Travis in Austin along with those of her beloved Yorkie, Buffy, who predeceased her.
