Sharon Liggett Stevens born on March 12,1951 to Delbert and Mae Liggett in Greensburg, KS, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loved ones. Sharon grew up in Mullinville, KS where she graduated from High School in 1969. On June 28, 1970 she married Theron Cook and to this marriage came their 4 children Darin, Karin, Tarin and Aaron. While raising her family Sharon worked hard but was always there for her family first. She made sure that the needs and wants of her family were always met and came before anything else. She worked many years in her parents Greenhouse in Mullinville, tending to the daily operations: planting seeds, nurturing them into beautiful flowers and tending to sales. She enjoyed creating beautiful baskets and arrangements. That love and green thumb continued her whole life. Sharon was also a caregiver, working in many hospitals and nursing homes as a CNA. After many years of employment at Nova School, Sharon retired in 2013 and enjoyed visiting her family and friends, taking care of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. On February 28, 2004 she married James Stevens and they spent the last 13 years living happily in Independence, MO.
Left behind to mourn her loss but cherish her memories are her husband Jim of the home; children Karin Koehn and husband Jeff of Pratt, KS, Aaron Cook of Columbia, TN, Tarin Cook and fiancé Jeremy Havard of Independence, MO, Darin Cook and wife Tish of Shawnee, KS; step-children James Stevens, Jr. and wife Jenny of Independence, MO, Jennifer Callahan and husband Jeremy of Melbourne, AR; sister Nancy Wheeler and husband Don; brother Gene Liggett; grandchildren Justin, Sydnee, Colby, Caleb, Peyton, Logan, Brooke, Kinzlie, Tesla, Landry, Ozzie, Trenade, Katie, Emily, Hayden, Rynner, Gracie, and Savanna; great-grandchildren Greyson, Dallas, and Amelia; plus many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and younger brother Bobby Liggett.
A visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will be held at 10:00am on Friday, December 23, 2016 at the chapel. Burial will take place at Floral Hills East Cemetery in Lees Summit, MO.
