Beverly Bonita Stevenson, 78, died Thursday January 10 at her home in Independence, surrounded by her family.
A lifelong member of the Community of Christ, Beverly was born Aug. 9, 1934 in McPherson, Kan. She married James E. Stevenson on Nov. 2, 1950.
A homemaker, devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Beverly’s favorite times were outings in her camper, large family gatherings, hunting for mushrooms, shopping for shoes, fishing and collecting angels.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jim, her parents, Marion C. and Helen (Hufferd) Snyder; her aunt, Thelma Fenimore and grandchildren Jonathan Cossette and Meghan Cossette Webb.
She leaves two brothers, Charles Snyder and wife Lois of Clovis, N.M., and Marion Snyder and wife Kathy of Pensacola, Fla.; two daughters, Stephanie “Stevie” Lappine and husband Robert, of Blue Springs, and Pam Webb, of Kansas City; a son, Jim, of Independence; grandchildren Bobby Lappine, Shelley Yamnitz and husband Kyle, Jimmy Stevenson, Jared Stevenson, Jessica Birk and husband Jim, Jeffrey Webb, Christina Webb; and great-grandchildren Conner Yamnitz, Madelyn and Jimmy Birk, and expecting Gabriella soon.
Family and friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, January 16, at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the chapel, with burial at Oak Ridge Memorial Gardens, Independence.
The family suggests donations to Kansas City Hospice, Children’s Mercy Hospital or Village Heights Community of Christ.
