Gary Stewart, 79, of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, December 2, 2017. A visitation will be held from 1-2pm on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO, 64055. A service will follow at 2pm at the chapel. Cremation will follow with a private inurnment at Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville.
Gary was born on December 27, 1937 in Kansas City, MO to Victor and Helen (Julian) Stewart. He enjoyed fishing, going to classic car shows, racing cars, and watching sports – especially Chiefs football. Gary proudly served in the United States Army.
He will be remembered by his daughter Robin Stewart of Independence, MO; sons Gary Stewart, Jr. of Kanas City, MO, and Jeffrey Stewart of Independence, MO; brother Harold Stewart and wife Ruth of Independence, MO; plus several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jay Stewart.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
