Robert Charles Stewart, 73, of Independence, MO, passed away Friday, July 06, 2007 at St. Luke’s Hospital. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral, 415 W. 13th St., Kansas City, MO 64105 on Monday, July 9, 2007. Following visitation, graveside services with full military honors in Floral Hills Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cardiac Transplant Fund, c/o Cathy St. Clair, St. Luke’s Hospital, 4401 Wornall Rd, Kansas City, MO 64111. Bob was born April 8, 1934 in Kansas City, MO to Harry A. and Inez (Kelly) Stewart. He was a graduate of the old De La Salle Military Academy in Kansas City. Mr. Stewart went on to graduate from the University of Missouri at Kansas City with a Bachelor of Arts degree. Robert proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Stewart was a former detective with the Kansas City Police Department and a retired Special Agent with the United States Secret Service. He was a member of the Association of Former Agents, United States Secret Service; VFW; Dwight Cole American Legion Post #0370; MO Peace Officers Assoc.; KS Peace Officers Assoc; and was a life member of the Kansas City St. Andrews Society. Robert is survived by his wife Linda Kay (Hays) Stewart; daughter Lisa Stewart, step-daughter Dr. Laurie Blevins Fowler, son Robert V. Stewart, step-son David Blevins; eight grandchildren; and sister Helen Robbins. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
