Brenda Lee Stone (Black)

Brenda Stone, 72, of Independence, MO passed away at her home March 9, 2020. Visitation will be from 6-8pm Sunday, March 15, 2020 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. The family will gather at the funeral home at 1pm Monday, March 16, 2020, and precede to the graveside service at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Brenda was born on June 4, 1947 in Miami, OK to Bud and Deveryl (Osborn) Black. She was a graduate of Van Horn High School. Brenda loved going to the boat and playing on the slots, collecting angels and cheering on her favorite team, the KC Chiefs. She enjoyed her time at home making crafts and cooking for the family. Her apple pie was a family favorite! Brenda always put others before herself, and will be forever loved and greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include: husband of 25 years Rick Stone; son Brian Carpenter; son David Smirl; daughter Kimothy “Nikki” Stone; daughter Heather Stone; grandchildren Corey Carpenter, Clint Carpenter, Bri Carpenter, Briar Carpenter and Ashley Engle; great grandson Camden Carpenter; brother Jesse Black; a large extended family and many friends. Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and brother Larry Black.
