Terri S. Storms, 75, Hutchinson Island, FL, formerly of Independence, MO, was called home by God on June 6, 2018 in Vero Beach, FL. She passed away very peacefully with her husband by her side. Services will be 10 am, Sat., June 16 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 – 7:30 pm, Friday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to V.N.A. Terri was born May 5, 1943 in Kansas City, MO and grew up in Independence, MO. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in the Class of 1961 and later earned her B.S. and Master’s in Education from UMKC. She was a an elementary teacher for the Independence School District and taught at Bryant Elementary (the school she had attended), William Southern Elementary and the Pioneer Ridge 6th Grade Center. She was a great teacher who was involved with her students. Terri was very talented and could accomplish anything she set out to do. She enjoyed painting and sewing. Following her retirement, she made purses and sold them at craft shows in the area. She was a member of Christ by the Sea United Methodist Church in Vero Beach, FL and a member of the Junior Service League in Independence and the PTA.
Terri was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. Her family came before anything else. She enjoyed helping other people.
Terri was preceded in death by sister Jane (Hedges) Sheffield. She is survived by her husband of nearly fifty-six years Ellis Storms, of the home; sons Jeff Storms and wife Eileen, Houston TX; Chris Storms and wife Audra, Lake Lotawana, MO; sister Marsha Shephard and husband Dale, Lone Jack. MO; brother Jay Hedges and wife Julie, Kearney, MO; grandchildren Alec, Megan, Austin and Michael and many other family members.
