Clarence Stowell

Clarence E. “Clancy” Stowell, 89 of Independence, MO passed away, Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Carmel Hills Living Center.

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, June 22, 2013 at the Woods Chapel Congregation of the Community of Christ 500 NE Woods Chapel Rd., Lee’s Summit, MO 64064.. A private graveside services will be held prior. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Kansas City Hospice and Palliative Care 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 100, Kansas City, MO 64114.

Clancy was born May 23, 1924 in Valley City, ND to Charles Edward and Mabel M. (Adams) Stowell and has been a lifelong area resident. He was a electrical contractor and had owned and operated Stowell Electric for over 35 years. He later owned Nu Look Car Care Inc. in Independence. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, watching sports and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. He was an elder and member of the Woods Chapel Congregation of the Community of Christ. He was also a member and past board member of NECA, past president of the Independence Chamber of Commerce, Rotary International and other civic groups. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Elizabeth “Betty” Stowell of the home; 3 sons, Dennis L. Stowell and wife Cindy and Gary Stowell all of Independence, MO and Jeff M. Stowell of Lee’s Summit, MO; a sister, Jean Sinclair of Independence, MO; 7 grandchildren, Anthony Tige Stowell, David Ryan Stowell, Kimberly Ann Bergman, Angela Kay Coleman, Darec Daniel Stowell, Sarah Ashley Stowell and Sydney Nicole Stowell and 3 great grandchildren, Peyton Daniel Squires, Maxwell Theron Bergman and Cruz William Coleman. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Kenneth and Richard and 2 sisters, Florence Erickson and Eleanor Feiser.
