Gordon Michael Strode

Gordon Michael Strode, 49, of Independence, MO, passed away on Monday, July 8, 2019. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 11-1pm at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St, Independence, MO 64055. Gordon was born on June 20, 1970 to Chilton and Patsy (Pyle) Strode in Independence, MO. He grew up and graduated high school in Independence. He was a mischievous child, but grew into a kind, gentle man, who was a great husband, father and step-father. Gordon enjoyed fishing, building model cars and planes and anything that involved going fast; RC racing, dirt racing, 4-wheelers, and Evil Kinevil. He loved animals and was a great artist. Gordon was a mechanic by trade and worked in his older brother’s shop; work he enjoyed for many years. Gordon is survived by his wife, Sarah; son, Daniel Strode; stepson, Nolan Mercer; mother, Patsy Strode; brother, David (Christy) Strode; sister, Rebecca (Terry) Zackert; nephews, Joey Strode and Andy Young; and nieces, Amanda Candioto, Amber Young, Ashley Manning, and Kayla Scherer. Gordon is preceded in death by his father, Chilton Strode; and nephew, Jesse Strode.
