Vivian Lucille Stumpenhaus, of Independence, MO, passed away Friday, December 14, 2012 surrounded by her family. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, December 18 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 East 39th Street South, Independence, MO. Funeral services will be at 10 am Wednesday, December 19 at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Mound Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Community Services League, 404 North Noland Road, Independence, MO 64050; Salvation Army Crossroads Homeless Shelter, 14700 East Truman Road, Independence, MO 64050; and Summit Grove Community of Christ Church, 411 S. Lee's Summit Road, Independence, MO 64050. Lucille was born on February 26, 1921, in Courtney, MO, the daughter of Geneva and David Lundquist. She graduated from William Chrisman High School. She retired from Nelly Don, Inc. Lucille was a member of Summit Grove Community of Christ Church. She was a member of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary, Post 1000, as well as the Laurel Club. Lucille enjoyed fishing, camping, crocheting, crafting, quilting, canning and hosting garage sales. She and husband Warner spent many winters at Toledo Bend, TX fishing and enjoying the company of other Snowbirds. She believed in giving back to the community, proving this by her generosity to the above mentioned organizations. Above all, she was a devoted wife, wonderful mother, and exceptional mother-in-law. She was a very hands-on grandma, who enjoyed sharing in her grandchildren’s accomplishments, being at all events and showering much love and affection on them. Lucille is survived by eldest son, Larry and his wife Vicki, Searcy AR, and youngest son, Gary and his wife Vici, Independence, MO; five grandchildren, Anastasia Stumpenhaus, Webster, TX, Michelle (Andy) Rivero, Schererville, IN, Chris Stumpenhaus, Independence, MO, Russ (Sara) Stumpenhaus, Cabot, AR, and Justin (Ashley) Stumpenhaus, Grain Valley, MO; six great-grandchildren, Canon and Stone Stumpenhaus, Matthew and Mariana Rivero and Avery and Paige Stumpenhaus. She is also survived by sister-in-law DeLois Watkins and many nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Warner Stumpenhaus, two sisters, Laura Reese and Reva Munjak, and four brothers, William, Harold, Duane (Red), and Richard Lundquist.
