Bradley C. Sutton, 59, of Independence, MO passed away January 19, 2015, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by all of his family. Brad was born into a career Army family at Fort Eustis, VA on August 4, 1955. He lived throughout his formative years on Army posts and attended schools in Virginia, Pennsylvania, West Point, New York, Germany, the Paris-American School in France, and Independence, Missouri, graduating from Redlands High School in New Cumberland, Pennsylvania. He then attended and graduated from Graceland University in Lamoni, IA with a degree in Art, in 1977. He married Dawn Lea Wise, a Graceland classmate. He then began a 35 year career as a creative artist with Hallmark Cards in Kansas City, retiring in 2009 after designing over 500 cards for production. His interests included his sons’ sports activities, WWI history, the Kansas City Royals, the encouragement of art in children, his several Dachshund dogs over the years, and was a nature lover. He was a member of the Community of Christ Stone Church Congregation in Independence. Brad is survived by his parents, Colonel John Sutton and Dana Sutton; his wife, Dawn (Wise) Sutton; three sons, Andrew (Megan), Daniel and Garrett (Kristen); grandchildren, Delaney and Carter Sutton, all residing in the Kansas City area; his sister, Claudia Green of Saratoga Springs, NY, and her children, Bradley and Shelley Green. A visitation will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. followed by an 11:00 a.m. memorial service on Saturday, January 24, at the Stone Church Congregation, 1012 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO.
