Henry Ellis Swayze, 83, of Independence, MO, passed away Monday, December 17, 2007. Mr. Swayze was born November 1, 1924 in Springfield, MO to Henry E. and Venora (Tiberghien) Swayze. He grew up in Independence, MO and attended public schools including Noland Junior High and William Chrisman High School and later attended the University of Minnesota. He was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a U.S. Navy submarine veteran of WWII. He retired from Colgate-Palmolive Co., in 1979. He was preceded in death by; his parents, Henry E. and Venora Swayze; a brother, Paul A. Swayze; Jessie J. Perry; Laura L. Surface. Ellis is survived by; his sister, Mary E. Bunten of Independence, MO, and sons Henry E. Swayze, Jr. of Greenwood Village, CO and Randy E. Swayze of Independence, MO; daughter Candace E. Yeo of Independence, MO; several grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, nephews and nieces, step-daughters, Donna Craig and Janna Russell and their families. Friends may call from 1 to 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 27, 2007 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel preceding the graveside service at 2:30 p.m., Thursday in the Mound Grove Cemetery. The family suggests memorials be made to the Children’s Mercy Hospital of charity of the donor’s choice.
