Mildred Mae “Susie” Switzer, 87 of Blue Springs, MO, passed away Mon. Nov. 12, 2007 at Centerpoint Medical Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Fri. Nov. 16, 2007 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave. Indep. MO, Burial in Blue Springs Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 �" 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to St. Matthew United Methodist Church, 2415 R. D. Mize Rd. Indep. MO 64057. Mrs. Switzer was born on May 2, 1920 to Elza and Mary (Gurtner) Calvert in Fayette County, IL and had lived in Thayer, MO and Glasford, IL before moving to this area in 1965. Aunt Susie, as she was affectionately know by all her nieces and nephews was a loving and caring person who enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking special treats and making quilts for her family and friends. She was an active member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and its Women’s Group where she handmade and donated many items to various missions. Mrs. Switzer was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Switzer, in 1998 and by three brothers, Stan Calvert, Howard Calvert and Ronald Calvert. She is survived by a sister, Thelma Quick of Windsor, MO, a brother, Robert “Bob” Calvert of Independence, MO and a brother and sister-in-law, Les and Marge Calvert of Oak Grove, MO. Sisters-in-law, Virginia Calvert and Linda Calvert, both of Independence, Faye Cowens of Thomasville, MO and Edith Switzer of West Plains, MO.
